ENG 221: SURVEY OF BRITISH LITERATURE: BEGINNINGS TO THE 18TH CENTURY

This course provides a broad overview of British literature from the Middle Ages to the late eighteenth century. We will read a variety of literature and historical works, examine their historical and cultural contexts, debate issues of periodization and canonizataion, and consider questions of genre and innovation.
