This course uses economic principles to frame public policy debate around contemporary issues related toeducation, healthcare, and inequality in the U.S. Topics include the pros and cons of school choice,competing theories on the returns to a college education, government involvement in health insurance,pharmaceutical pricing, the provision of a social safety net, and the debate over affirmative action. The course will include a combination of lectures and discussions and no previous experience with economics is required. (Alternate Years)
