Transfer Credit

Once the student has matriculated in University, no more than four courses taken at another accredited institution may be used to satisfy degree requirements. This limitation does not apply to study abroad courses or courses taken through the Higher Education Consortium of Central Massachusetts (HECCMA) cross registration program. While the University expects all Foundations Program courses will be taken at the University, two of the four permitted transfer courses may, with department approval, be counted in the Foundations requirement. Please note: Foundations Program Forum courses must be taken at Assumption and may not be completed by means of transfer courses or AP credit. Capstone courses also must be taken in residence, and other departmental restrictions apply. Courses taken in the University’s intersession and summer semesters are not transfer courses, nor are courses taken at the University’s Rome campus. To transfer courses and credits taken at another institution to Assumption University, students must complete the Transfer Credit Authorization form, which can be found on the Registrar’s Office webpage. The information will be sent to the appropriate department chair for approval. The student will then be contacted with the approval. Students must earn a grade of C or higher and order an official transcript to be sent to the Office of the Registrar from the credit-granting institution. Grades earned at these institutions are not included in the calculation of the student’s Assumption grade point average.
