D’Amour Center for Teaching Excellence

The D’Amour Center for Teaching Excellence (DCTE) sponsors programs and events related to teaching and learning at Assumption. Its goal is to support faculty in their endeavor to provide attentive, effective, and inspiring teaching in each discipline and cooperatively across the curriculum. The Center sponsors opportunities for faculty to discuss their craft. It consults and collaborates with individuals, offices, departments, and programs to improve teaching and learning. It sponsors collaborative faculty initiatives to enrich the Assumption educational experience, and promotes reflection, conversation, and collaboration across departments related to teaching, learning, and liberal education. The center’s primary activities include regular “Food for Thought” pedagogy-focused discussions; a “Teaching for AU Mission” discussion group; class observations and consultations; initiatives for faculty collaboration related to teaching; an annual Faculty Retreat in Mid-May; and topic-focused faculty working groups. All Assumption faculty, whether full or part-time, are welcome to attend DCTE events and take full advantage of its resources. Contact Prof. Molly McGrath, 508 767-7662. The DCTE is located on the second floor of the Tsotsis Family Academic Center.
